I spent a few years working at sea awhile back and was on many different ships as I worked...there was a big mix of nationality's and a wide range of ages, with myself always being the youngest(17 when I started). some ships were very social and had a great atmosphere, others I was the youngest by 40yrs and socially, generationally and racially had nothing in common so 5 months onboard with little interaction except for working and eating tend to become quite lonely and boring even in a small space with others!!! all nice people but no links between us.
so on ships like that I'd write a shitload of poem's..quite therapeutical to get it out of my head and onto paper...although I'd prefer to call them lyrical thoughts or rhythmical observations...leave poetry for the poets!!! I've written more poems then I've read haha
I think this one was the first I wrote after I decided not to carry on at sea to become a 2nd officer!!! I was just home and managed to find myself some mushrooms from a buddy...so took a high dose in my flat, made a long playlist of my favourite psy music and had a very deep experience contemplating my decisions... in the early morning I walked over to a nearby strand where I grew up to watch the sunrise...and wrote that...
Bit of a rant there haha...I've a few others from when I was actually at sea I'll dig up later and might throw a few up!!!
Just read over yours again aswell man....Nice one!!!
